Biography

I was born in Grafton and moved to Guyra when I was very young. I started painting at an early age, slowly developing my style as I got older. In 1995 I got serious about my art and in 2001 I had my first major success in winning the Inverell Art Prize. That win fuelled the desire to compete around the area and I'm now a regular at Inverell and Currabubula. My first exhibition was at Neram in 2004, going on to shows at Inverell, The Keeping Place and Ceramic Break Sculpture Park. I'm a 6 time finalist in the Country Energy Art Prize and was accepted twice in the Parliament of New Indigenous Art Prize. In 2005 I won the Nambucca Valley Art Prize and in 2007 I won the Brush with Verse in Tenterfield. In 2007 and 2008 I was accepted in the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award in Coffs Harbour.
In 2008 I was accepted in the Stanthorpe Art Prize and in 2009 I was accepted in the Gold Coast Art Prize. My work reflects my thoughts, images of my ancestors and my life in general.
